International Road Check 2025

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance checks are set to take place May 13-15th, 2025 and this year brings serious risks for those who are unprepared. This year the CVSA's focus will be on TIRES and HOURS OF SERVICE (HOS) compliance. We have compiled a list of items that can help you prepare for the upcoming inspections.

Driver Inspections - Focusing on False Logs
Vehicle Inspections - Tire Safety

Driver Inspection

As part of an ongoing shift in HOS enforcement, the inspectors will be paying close attention to log falsification. Companies that fail to audit or drivers that attempt to manipulate their hours could result in serious consequences.

Key areas will include but not be limited to:

  • Disconnecting your ELD
  • Ghost Drivers
  • Misuse of personal conveyance (PC)
  • Logging "Off Duty" while working

Vehicle Inspection

The importance of tire maintenance cannot be exaggerated enough. If a tire is to fail while driving, it does not just put you in a dangerous situation but also buts other motorists in significant risk.

During these inspections they will be looking for:

  • Proper tread and inflation
  • Tire Damage
  • Improper repairs
  • Items lodged between dual tires.

Did you know that repeated roadside violations can lead to an in-house audit? With HOS being a stand-alone CSA category, if you fail an audit, it can downgrade your safety score. A rating other than "satisfactory" could result in lost freight opportunities, as most brokers and shippers will not work with carriers that are on probationary or unsatisfactory ratings. Now is the time to prepare! Making sure that you are in compliance now can help prevent costly violations and operational disruptions in the future.
