The Body and Paint Technician is responsible for variety of tasks that ensure our are equipment is restored to its original condition. 

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Repair and/or replace damaged and defective body parts of trucks/trailers
  • Perform structural and cosmetic bodywork including dent removal, panel straightening, and metal finishing
  • Perform paint preparation including sanding, priming, masking, and surface treatment on trucks, cab components, and trailers
  • Match and mix paint to achieve accurate color matches on all fleet and customer vehicles
  • Apply paint, clearcoat, and specialty coatings using spray guns and other professional application equipment
  • Repair all types of fiberglass, plastic, and metal body parts; adjust and modify all heavy-duty body components
  • Installing custom add-on parts and accessories to trucks/trailers
  • Replace windshields and other glass components
  • Replace mechanical truck parts when needed
  • Read and understand written wreck repair estimates and paint work orders
  • Fabricate items when needed to complete repairs
  • Identify and repair rust, corrosion, and surface damage prior to painting
  • Use problem-solving skills when issues arise during jobs
  • Communicate with the Lead Shop Tech, Maintenance Coordinator, and Manager on the repair and paint process, keeping them informed of issues or additional repairs needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with paint booth safety and OSHA standards
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, punctuality, and a hard work ethic
  • Have the ability to independently move, lift, push, pull or carry heavy equipment up to 80 lbs.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience with automotive or heavy-duty truck paint and body repair
  • Proficiency with spray guns, DA sanders, body hammers, and related tools
  • Familiarity with paint mixing systems and color matching techniques
  • Knowledge of paint booth operations and safety procedures
  • Experience reading repair estimates and work orders
  • Valid driver’s license
