Safety -
A Shared Responsibility.

At Simon’s Trucking, safety has always been more than a policy—it’s part of who we are. While our company has drastically changed over the past 80 years, our commitment to protecting our employees, our customers, and the motoring public has remained constant.
The trucking industry has changed significantly through the decades. Regulations governing Hours of Service, vehicle inspections, driver qualifications, drug testing, medical certifications, and electronic logging devices have all been implemented to strengthen safety and accountability. As those expectations have grown, Simon’s Trucking has evolved right alongside them, investing in better equipment, stronger hiring practices, and an updated driver orientation process.
But safety is about more than following rules.
A strong safety culture is built on ownership, communication, and continuous improvement. It requires every person in the organization—from company leadership to fleet managers to professional drivers—to take responsibility for making safe decisions every day. Safety cannot be delegated to one department or enforced through discipline alone. It must be embraced as a shared responsibility; it’s a core value.
That begins with ownership. We expect our team members to do things the right way, every time, even when it may be inconvenient or cause delays. Compliance is about more than checking a box; it is about understanding that laws and regulations exist to protect lives. Whether it’s accurately managing Hours of Service, performing thorough inspections, or following company procedures, every decision contributes to the overall safety of our operation.
Communication plays an equally important role. Clear expectations create confidence and accountability. From our onboarding process through daily operations, we work to ensure drivers and staff understand not only what is expected of them, but also why those expectations matter. As regulations and industry standards continue to change; ongoing communication keeps everyone informed and prepared to make safe and professional decisions.
Just as important is the support we provide. A commitment to safety means equipping people with the tools, training, equipment, and resources they need to succeed. Safe operations happen when employees know they are supported by leadership, backed by reliable equipment, and encouraged to ask questions, identify concerns, and share ideas for improvement.
This continuous improvement has helped Simon’s Trucking build a strong reputation for safety. Our low CSA scores and recent recognition as the top-ranked safety performer within our insurance captive group are accomplishments we are proud of. However, these achievements are not the result of a single program, person or policy. They are the result of thousands of daily decisions made by individuals who actively choose to prioritize safety and professionalism.
As the transportation industry continues to evolve, so will Simon’s Trucking. We will continue investing in our people, adapting to new regulations, improving our processes, and strengthening our safety mindset.
Because at the end of the day, safety is not just a responsibility—it is a shared commitment.
